DESCRIPTION

The Opto-Electronics model RLM10 is designed to measure Return Loss and Insertion Loss of singlemode fiber optical components such as fiber cable and patch cords as well as passive components such as isolators, switches attenuators etc.

The RLM10 is well suited to a manufacturing environment; it measures both the Return Loss and Insertion Loss of a DUT at 1300 nm and 1550 nm in less than 10 seconds. Values of Return Loss as high as 80 dB can be measured with an accuracy of better than ¡Ó 1 dB, and Insertion Loss is measured to within ¡Ó 0.02 dB.

The RLM10 is designed to measure Return Loss for devices under test which lie in the range of 1.2 to 10 meters from the instrument output connector; the result is independent of reflections from other in-line connectors.

The measured values of the Return Loss and Insertion Loss at the two wavelengths can be read directly from the LCD screen. Alternatively, the instrument can be fully controlled through the GPIB interface provided.
